  • The full hair bulb may not always be visible, however even at the edge of the structure it still displays a tapering at the epidermis facing side
  • Hyperreflective areas can be seen in the matrix corresponding to the keratin based hair shaft

  • Surface hairs can be easily identified by their hyperreflective structure above the skin surface
  • Hairs are comprised of keratin and cast a shadow on underlying features
